100 Yards

Set in 1920s Tianjin, in northern China, the film follows two men training in the martial arts. One is the son of a respected master, the other his most gifted student. When the master dies, the question of who will lead his martial arts academy turns the two into rivals, and their dispute moves beyond the accepted practice of settling such matters privately.

This action drama is directed by Xu Junfeng and Xu Haofeng, who also wrote the screenplay together. It is their second feature after The Final Master, released in 2015, and Xu Haofeng's follow-up to that earlier martial arts film. Jacky Heung, one of the producers, plays Shen An, with Andy On as Qi Quan. The cast also includes Bea Hayden Kuo, Tang Shiyi, Li Yuan and Zhao Zheng.

The film was released in September 2024 and runs 108 minutes. Audience responses have been moderate: it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb from just over six hundred votes, and 6.2 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 7.5 out of 10, based on twenty-two reviews, is noticeably higher than either audience score.
