Flight Risk

Flight Risk follows a U.S. Marshal tasked with escorting a government witness to New York so he can testify against a mafia boss. Their journey runs through the Alaskan wilderness aboard a small charter plane, and it is not long before the marshal begins to suspect that the pilot at the controls is not the man he claims to be. With nowhere to go at altitude, the flight turns into a struggle over who will reach the ground.

Mel Gibson directed the film, which sits between Hacksaw Ridge and his planned two-part Resurrection of the Christ project in his filmography. Jared Rosenberg wrote the screenplay, and Gibson produced alongside John Davis and Bruce Davey. Mark Wahlberg plays the pilot Daryl Booth, Michelle Dockery plays Marshal Madolyn Harris, and Topher Grace plays the witness Winston. Leah Remini, Maaz Ali and Paul Ben-Victor are credited as additional voices.

Released in January 2025, the film runs 91 minutes and was made for a budget of 27 million dollars. It went on to take about 49 million dollars worldwide, a modest return against its cost. Audience scores sit in the middle range, at 5.2 on IMDb from roughly 43,000 votes and 5.9 on TMDB from about 1,230 votes, while the critics' rating of 4.7 from 131 reviews is lower still, placing the film toward the weaker end of its director's output.
