National Lampoon's Van Wilder
Short description
Van Wilder has spent seven years at Coolidge College and has no plans to leave. His parties have made him a campus institution, but his father, who has been paying the bills, decides the arrangement has gone on long enough and cuts off the money. To cover his tuition and keep his student life going, Van turns to the one skill he has: throwing parties, now as fundraisers. Complications arrive in the form of Gwen Pearson, a journalism student assigned to write a profile of him, who initially sees only a slacker and gradually learns there is more to him.
The film is a comedy directed by Walt Becker, his first feature, with a screenplay by David Wagner and Brent Goldberg. Ryan Reynolds plays Van, Tara Reid plays Gwen, Tim Matheson plays his father, and Kal Penn appears as Taj. It was made for about 6 million dollars and took in roughly 39 million worldwide. On TMDB it holds a 6 out of 10 from around two thousand votes.
