Five Fingers

Martijn, an idealistic Dutch pianist, travels to Morocco to set up a food program for undernourished children. Shortly after arriving, he is seized by a group of terrorists, drugged and held captive. His guide, Gavin, is killed in front of him. Facing death, Martijn is drawn into a psychological chess match with his chief captor, Ahmat, as he tries to work out what the terrorists actually want from him and to survive the ordeal.

The film is directed by Laurence Malkin, who wrote the screenplay with Chad Thumann. It was produced by Laurence Fishburne, Dolly Hall and Josh Kesselman. Fishburne also stars as Ahmat, opposite Ryan Phillippe as Martijn, with Touriya Haoud, Colm Meaney, Gina Torres and Saïd Taghmaoui in supporting roles. Released in 2006 and running 87 minutes, it is an American action drama thriller.

The film holds a rating of 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb, based on around 8,600 votes, and 6 out of 10 on TMDB, from a much smaller pool of about 132 votes. The two scores sit close together, suggesting a broadly similar, middling response from the two audiences, though the far larger IMDb sample carries more weight.
