Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II - The Battle for Doldrey

Three years after Guts joined the Band of the Hawk, the mercenary company has become Midland's most celebrated fighting force. Griffith, its leader, has won battle after battle, and his ambition points toward a kingdom of his own. Yet Guts begins to question whether he is fighting for Griffith's dream or searching for one of his own, a doubt that threatens to put the two men at odds even as their greatest challenge approaches. The Hundred-Year War between Midland and the Tudor Empire is nearing its decisive moment, and the fortress of Doldrey, long considered untakeable and held by a legendary enemy commander and his elite cavalry, stands in the way. After Midland's armies fail repeatedly, Griffith offers the king a bold proposal: his five thousand Hawks will take Doldrey themselves, against a garrison several times their size.

The film is the second entry in the Golden Age Arc trilogy adapting Kentaro Miura's manga. Toshiyuki Kubooka directed it, with Ichirou Ookouchi writing the screenplay, and the voice cast includes Hiroaki Iwanaga as Guts, Takahiro Sakurai as Griffith and Toa Yukinari as Casca. Animated by STUDIO4℃ with Beyond C. and Graphinica, it runs 98 minutes.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.7 from roughly 13,000 votes, and on TMDB a 7.3 from just under 500 votes, indicating a consistently positive reception across both audiences. Chronologically among Kubooka's directed films it follows Batman: Gotham Knight and precedes the first and third Berserk installments.
