K-ON! The Movie

K-ON! The Movie follows the members of a high school light music club as graduation approaches. Four of the girls are about to leave school, while the youngest, Azusa, still has a year ahead of her. Rather than drift apart, they decide to take a trip together abroad, settling on London after considering other destinations. Once there, they tour famous sights, struggle with the language, sample local food and perform for an English audience, all while searching for a fitting farewell gift for Azusa. The journey becomes a chance to mark the end of their time together and to strengthen the bond they have built.

The film is an animated Japanese production directed by Naoko Yamada, with a screenplay by Reiko Yoshida and production by Kyoto Animation, Pony Canyon, Shochiku and TBS. It came first in the chronological list of Yamada's features, ahead of Tamako Love Story, A Silent Voice: The Movie, Liz and the Blue Bird and The Colors Within. The voice cast includes Aki Toyosaki as Yui Hirasawa, Yoko Hikasa as Mio Akiyama, Satomi Sato as Ritsu Tainaka, Minako Kotobuki as Tsumugi Kotobuki, Ayana Taketatsu as Azusa Nakano and Madoka Yonezawa as Ui Hirasawa, with 125 crew members credited.

Released in December 2011, the film took about 21 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.7 out of 10 from roughly 2,700 votes, and on TMDB 7.9 out of 10 from around 116 votes, placing the two audience measures close together.
