Winter of the Crow

Set in Warsaw in December 1981, this historical thriller follows Joan Andrews, a British psychiatry professor visiting the city for a conference. Her trip coincides with the sudden imposition of martial law, which transforms the country into a restrictive environment filled with tanks and secret police. After witnessing the murder of a student, Andrews finds herself trapped behind the Iron Curtain and becomes a target of the regime. She must navigate the paralyzed city and a dangerous political atmosphere to survive and share the truth about the violence she witnessed.

The film was directed by Kasia Adamik, who previously directed Spoor in 2017. The screenplay was written by Adamik alongside Lucinda Coxon and Sandra Buchta. The movie stars Lesley Manville as Joan Andrews, with Zofia Wichłacz playing Alina Wachowiak. The cast also includes Andrzej Konopka, Sascha Ley, Tom Burke, and Rhianne Barreto. A joint production between the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, and Poland, the project involved companies such as TVP and Iris Productions. With a runtime of 112 minutes, the drama was released on February 20, 2026.
