Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Nick O'Leary is a bassist in a little-known New York indie band who is still hung up on his ex-girlfriend, Tris, even though she has moved on. At a club where his band is playing, Tris's friend Norah asks him to pose as her boyfriend for a few minutes so she can save face in front of Tris and her new boyfriend. That request sets off a long night across New York as the two, joined by Nick's bandmates, search for Norah's missing drunk friend Caroline, keep crossing paths with Tris, and gradually work out what they might mean to each other. Music, especially their shared taste in bands, is what first links them.

Peter Sollett directed the film, which was written by Lorene Scafaria and produced by Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz and Andrew Miano. It was Sollett's second feature, followed years later by Freeheld and Metal Lords. Michael Cera and Kat Dennings lead a cast that also includes Aaron Yoo, Rafi Gavron, Ari Graynor and Alexis Dziena, among 65 credited performers. Made for about 9 million dollars, it took in roughly 34 million worldwide, a solid return on its budget.

On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from around 97,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from about 1,300 votes. A critics' rating of 6.7 from 184 reviews places it slightly above both audience scores.
