Ginger & Rosa

Ginger & Rosa is a drama set in London in 1962, where two teenage girls, Ginger and Rosa, are inseparable friends navigating the passage from childhood to adulthood. As the Cuban Missile Crisis casts a shadow over their future, Ginger becomes drawn to poetry and political protest against nuclear weapons, while Rosa is more focused on romance and experimenting with boys. Their rebellion against their mothers and the domestic lives they lead takes a decisive turn when a betrayal within their families threatens to tear their friendship apart.

Sally Potter wrote and directed the film, which sits between Yes and The Party in her filmography. Elle Fanning and Alice Englert lead the cast as the two friends, with Christina Hendricks, Alessandro Nivola, Timothy Spall and Annette Bening in supporting roles. The production was a co-production between Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Canada.

Released in October 2012, the film runs 90 minutes and took about 1 million dollars at the worldwide box office, a modest return.
