Biker Boyz

Biker Boyz is set in the world of African-American motorcycle clubs in Southern California, where riders who work office jobs during the week put on leather and helmets on nights and weekends. Manuel Galloway, known as Smoke, presides over the Black Knights and holds the title King of Cali as the region's leading underground racer. A younger rider called Kid, whose father was a mechanic who died in a racing accident, wants to challenge him. When Smoke refuses to let Kid into the club, Kid forms his own crew, the Biker Boyz, and the rivalry between the two men builds toward a contest over Smoke's standing. The cast includes Laurence Fishburne as Smoke, Derek Luke as Kid, Orlando Jones, Djimon Hounsou, Meagan Good and Lisa Bonet.

Reggie Rock Bythewood directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Craig Fernandez, with Gina Prince-Bythewood among the producers. The production, from DreamWorks Pictures and 3 Arts Entertainment, ran 110 minutes. It was released on January 31, 2003, and its worldwide box office roughly matched its reported budget.

Audience responses differ by platform: on IMDb it holds 4.7/10 from about 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.4/10 from a much smaller group of 423 votes. A critics' rating of 4.2/10 from 93 reviews places it below even the lower of the two audience figures.
