The Glory of Life is a historical drama that focuses on the final year of Franz Kafka's life. In the summer of 1923, the writer meets Dora Diamant at a seaside resort on the Baltic coast. Despite their different backgrounds and personalities, they develop a deep romantic bond that provides Kafka with a sense of intimacy he had not previously experienced while dealing with an overbearing family and tuberculosis. The couple spends time together in Berlin and later at an Austrian sanatorium as Kafka's health declines.
The film was directed by Judith Kaufmann and Georg Maas. For Kaufmann, this project followed her 2012 film Two Lives. The movie stars Sabin Tambrea as Franz Kafka and Henriette Confurius as Dora Diamant, with Manuel Rubey appearing as Max Brod. A total of 24 actors are credited in the cast.
Produced in Germany and Austria, the film earned 1 million USD at the worldwide box office. It has received a rating of 6.5/10 on IMDb based on 533 votes, while on TMDB it holds a higher rating of 7.4/10 from 26 votes.
