The Refrigerator

A couple from Ohio moves into a cheap, run-down apartment in a New York City neighborhood. While the residence is in poor condition, they are pleased with the included vintage refrigerator. They eventually discover that the appliance is a monster and a gateway to hell that kills people in gruesome ways. As the entity begins to exert mental control over the husband, the horror becomes apparent to the rest of the household.

Written and directed by Nicholas Jacobs, this 1991 American production blends comedy, fantasy, and horror. The film features Julia McNeal and Dave Simonds as the couple, Eileen and Steve Bateman, with supporting roles played by Phyllis Salaberrios, Angel Caban, Nena Segal, and Jaime Rojo. The production involved a credited crew of 43 people and a cast of 35.
