A respected district attorney, Paul Stanton, has his life and career upended when his young daughter is diagnosed with a rare lung disease and needs a transplant. With the child far down the waiting list and time running out, Paul and his wife Diane decide to pursue an illegal transplant in Mexico. Their search draws them into a world of trafficking, where they are forced to confront the reality of how organs are obtained.
Baltasar Kormákur directed the film, which followed White Night Wedding (2008) in his filmography. Walter A. Doty III and John Claflin wrote the screenplay. Dermot Mulroney and Diane Kruger star as the couple, with Sam Shepard, Rosanna Arquette, Mia Stallard and Jordi Mollà in supporting roles.
Released in 2010, the film had a budget of about 10 million dollars. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.5 from roughly 6,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 from around 130 votes. A critics' rating of 4.5 from 24 reviews indicates a less favourable reception than that of general viewers.
