War, Inc.

War, Inc. is set in a near-future Turaqistan, a desert nation in Central Asia where the American corporation Tamerlane, headed by a former United States vice president, has established a strong presence amid local unrest and civil conflict. Brand Hauser, a professional assassin who works for Tamerlane and suppresses his feelings with doses of hot sauce, travels there to eliminate a target. His cover is a large televised event centered on the wedding of a local pop star, and his assignment grows complicated as he becomes involved with a journalist and begins to question the operation.

The film is directed by Joshua Seftel, his first feature, followed years later by All the Empty Rooms. John Cusack stars as Hauser and also co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Leyner and Jeremy Pikser, and produced alongside Danny Lerner and Grace Loh. The cast includes Hilary Duff as the singer Yonica Babyyeah, Marisa Tomei as Natalie Hegalhuzen, Joan Cusack as Marsha Dillon, Dan Aykroyd as Mr. Vice President, and Sergej Trifunović, among 25 credited performers.

Released in 2008 and running 106 minutes, the film blends action, adventure, comedy and thriller elements across German, Bulgarian and American productions. Made for about 5 million USD, it returned roughly 1 million USD worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.5 out of 10 from 303 votes.
