Son in Law

Rebecca Warner has grown up on a farm in South Dakota and feels out of place when she starts college in Los Angeles. There she meets Crawl, a free-spirited partygoer who encourages her to stay in the city and helps her find her footing. By the time Thanksgiving arrives, Rebecca is no longer the naive country girl she was, and she brings Crawl home with her to South Dakota. Her family, who had other expectations for her future, is taken aback by her guest and his unruly behavior.

Steve Rash directed the film, which came after his earlier work Can't Buy Me Love and Queens Logic. Pauly Shore stars as Crawl, with Carla Gugino as Rebecca and Lane Smith as her father, alongside Tiffani Thiessen, Cindy Pickett and Mason Adams. The screenplay was written by Fax Bahr, Shawn Schepps and Adam Small, and the film runs ninety-five minutes.

Made for around 8 million dollars, the comedy took in roughly 36 million worldwide, a solid return on its budget. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from about 25,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6 out of 10, from a much smaller group of around 310 votes. A film critics' score of 4.3 out of 10 from 21 reviews places it below those viewer figures.
