Set in the magical land of Fairytopia, this animated family film follows Elina, a flower fairy who lives inside a large flower on the Magic Meadow with her companion Bibble, a small furry creature. Elina dreams of having wings like the other fairies, but when a sickness strikes the meadow, the flowers begin to wither and the fairies lose their ability to fly. Determined to help, Elina sets out to find Azura, a Guardian Fairy she believes can solve the problem, and her journey brings her into conflict with Laverna, who seeks to take power from the land's ruler.
The film is directed by Walter P. Martishius and William Lau, with a screenplay by Diane Duane and Elise Allen. It comes early in the long-running Barbie series of animated features, and the voice cast includes Kelly Sheridan as Elina, Lee Tockar as Bibble, Tabitha St. Germain, Kathleen Barr, Venus Terzo and Britt McKillip. Lau's directing credits place it between Barbie as The Princess & the Pauper and Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia.
Released in March 2005, the film runs about seventy minutes and was produced by Mainframe Entertainment in the United States. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.2 from around 6,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.8 from roughly 777 votes, suggesting a somewhat warmer response among that site's users than among IMDb's larger voter base.
