The Disintegration is a French drama set in a suburb of Lille. The story follows three young men—Ali, Nasser, and Hamza—who are struggling with their personal lives and their place in society. They encounter Djamel, an older and charismatic man who uses their vulnerabilities and frustrations to manipulate them. By preaching a radical ideology under the guise of religious values, Djamel gradually indoctrinates the friends and pushes them toward extremism and jihad.
Directed by Philippe Faucon, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Nebot, the film features a cast including Rashid Debbouze as Ali and Yassine Azzouz as Djamel. Other key roles are played by Ymanol Perset, Mohamed Nachit, and Zahra Addioui. Produced by Istiqlal Films and CRRAV Nord-Pas-de-Calais Le Fresnoy, the movie had a budget of 2 million USD.
Since its release in February 2012, the film has received a moderate response from viewers. It holds a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 328 votes and a slightly lower score of 5.6/10 on TMDB from 21 votes.
