Grave Encounters 2

Alex Wright is a film student who runs a horror review channel and becomes fixated on Grave Encounters, the found-footage film about a television crew locked inside a haunted psychiatric hospital. After a stranger sends him footage that appears to be a deleted scene from that movie, Alex starts looking into the people who made it. His search leads nowhere, and he comes to suspect that the events shown in the film actually happened and that its cast and crew are gone. Together with a group of friends, he travels to the abandoned Collingwood asylum where the original was shot, hoping to document what really took place there. Once inside, the group faces a malevolent presence and must rely on what they learned from watching the first film if they want to get out.

John Poliquin directed this Canadian-American horror sequel, working from a screenplay by Colin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz, the pair behind the first Grave Encounters. Richard Harmon plays Alex, with Stephanie Bennett, Dylan Playfair, Leanne Lapp and Howie Lai as his friends, and Sean Rogerson returning as Lance Preston.

Released in October 2012 and running 95 minutes, the film drew a mixed response: it holds a 5.1 rating on IMDb from around 30,000 votes and a 5.6 on TMDB from about 1,050 votes. Critics were harder on it, giving it 3.9 out of 10 across 11 reviews, a lower figure than either audience score.
