Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins

Roscoe Jenkins has built a successful life in California as the host of a popular television talk show, complete with fame and a glamorous girlfriend. His roots, however, lie in the South, and he has kept his distance from the family he left behind. When his parents prepare to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary, he reluctantly travels home with his son and his fitness-obsessed partner for a gathering that becomes far more than a simple reunion.

Back in his hometown, Roscoe finds his television status counts for little. His father never approved of the path he chose and would have preferred a more grounded life, like the one led by Roscoe's adopted brother Clyde. Old rivalries between the two brothers, simmering since childhood, resurface over the celebratory weekend, and Roscoe's new values are tested against the world he came from.

Malcolm D. Lee directed and wrote the film, his third feature after Undercover Brother and Roll Bounce. Martin Lawrence leads a cast that includes James Earl Jones, Margaret Avery, Joy Bryant, Cedric the Entertainer and Nicole Ari Parker. Made for 35 million dollars, it returned 44 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6 from 17,000 votes and on TMDB 6 from 324 votes, while critics rated it 4.5 from 81 reviews, well below audience scores.
