My Mother the Mermaid

Na-young is a post office employee who struggles with her relationship with her stubborn mother and passive father. While she looks forward to an upcoming trip abroad, her plans are interrupted when her father suddenly disappears without notice. Because her mother shows no interest in finding him, Na-young cancels her travel plans to search for her father in his hometown. Upon arriving, she encounters an unexpected person who challenges her perceptions of her parents.

Directed by Park Heung-sik, this South Korean fantasy romance was released in 2004. It is the first of two films listed in the director's career, followed by Memories of the Sword in 2015. The screenplay was written by Park Heung-sik, Song Hye-jin, and Kang Byeong-hwa.
