The Cottage

The Cottage is a British comedy-crime horror film about two brothers, David and Peter, whose attempt at a kidnapping goes badly wrong. They seize Tracey, intending to hold her for ransom, and take her to an isolated house in the countryside. Tracey proves far harder to control than they expected, refusing to be quiet or cooperative, and the pair find themselves at the mercy of their own captive. Their situation grows worse when a local farmer with a violent, unhinged streak enters the picture, turning the bungled scheme into a fight to survive.

Paul Andrew Williams directed. It is the first of the films in his directing filmography, made before Song for Marion, Bull, Dragonfly and Faith. Martin Pope and Ken Marshall produced, and the cast is led by Andy Serkis as David and Reece Shearsmith as Peter, with Jennifer Ellison as Tracey and Steven O'Donnell as Andrew. Made and set in the United Kingdom, it runs 92 minutes and took about 2 million dollars worldwide.

On IMDb it holds 6.1/10 from around 14,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6/10 from roughly 270 votes; the smaller TMDB sample lands close to the larger IMDb one. A critics' rating of 5.7/10 from 17 reviews sits a little below both audience scores.
