Short description
This animated anthology consists of six interlocking short stories that follow Bruce Wayne as he establishes himself as the protector of Gotham City. Set between the events of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, the narratives explore the hero's early experiences and his evolution into the Dark Knight. Throughout these segments, Batman faces various adversaries, including Deadshot, the Scarecrow, and Killer Croc, while reflecting on his training in India.
The film was directed by a team including Yoshiaki Kawajiri, for whom this was the twelfth directed project in a career starting with Lensman in 1984, as well as Yasuhiro Aoki, Hiroshi Morioka, Jong-Sik Nam, Toshiyuki Kubooka, Futoshi Higashide, and Shoujirou Nishimi. The screenplay was written by Alan Burnett, David S. Goyer, and Josh Olson. Kevin Conroy provided the voice for Batman and Bruce Wayne, supported by a cast of 20 performers including Jason Marsden, Scott Menville, and George Newbern.

What's left behind the scenes
- Another actor was originally planned to voice the role of young Bruce Wayne, but Kevin Conroy pleaded so much to be given a chance that the project creators gave in, and he ultimately voiced the main character in his youth.
- In the finale, where Batman spends time after fighting evil, he unexpectedly notices the Bat-Signal in the sky, alerting him to impending danger in Gotham. A similar ending was used in Tim Burton's film "Batman Returns," where the Bat-Signal attracted Catwoman.
