Set in an American town in the near future, the story centers on sixteen-year-old Herman Howards, a high school student who has long been bullied and humiliated by his classmates. One morning he takes a gun to school, and his plan to punish and frighten his tormentors ends in a mass shooting that leaves dozens of students, teachers and a police officer dead. Before his arrest he emails footage of the killings, filmed with his own camera, to the well-known journalist Lax Morales, telling him he wants his story told on Lax's show. Lax, who is troubled by his own past, comes face to face with Herman, and the case provokes a national debate about whether the boy should be executed.
Michelle Danner directed the film, her first feature, from a screenplay by John Buffalo Mailer. Norman Reedus plays Lax Morales and Garrett Backstrom plays Herman, with Martha Higareda, Rob Estes, Sabrina Debler and Andy McPhee among the credited cast of 54. Made on a budget of 2 million USD, the drama runs 88 minutes. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 5.1/10 from 10 reviews, while on TMDB its audience rating stands at 5.8/10 from 76 votes.
