Dhoom 2 continues the story of police officer Jai Dixit and his partner Ali Khan, who are now tracking an international thief known as Mr. A. This criminal targets rare and valuable objects, from art to jewellery, and leaves his signature letter behind at each scene. His thefts trace a pattern across the world map, and Mumbai becomes his next destination. Jai and Ali are joined by fellow officer Shonali Bose, while a female thief, Sunehri, is drawn into the pursuit and grows close to the man she is meant to help catch.
The film was directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, following his 2004 franchise opener Dhoom, with a screenplay by Vijay Krishna Acharya and production by Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. Hrithik Roshan plays Mr. A, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra reprise their roles as Jai and Ali, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bipasha Basu appear as Sunehri and Shonali. Released in November 2006, it runs 151 minutes.
The film's reported budget far exceeded its worldwide box office return, and it holds a 6.6 rating on IMDb from around 33,000 votes. On TMDB it also stands at 6.6, from roughly 305 votes, while a critics' rating of 7/10 reflects a somewhat warmer reception among reviewers than among the wider audience.
