Blood: The Last Vampire

Blood: The Last Vampire follows Saya, a young woman who appears to be an ordinary teenager but is in fact a vampire who has lived for centuries. Recruited by a secret government organization that hunts demons, she is sent to an American military base in Japan shortly after the Second World War, where she poses as a schoolgirl while investigating a series of mysterious deaths. The base has been infiltrated by demonic creatures that pass for human, and Saya's mission is to identify and destroy them. The film is a live-action adaptation of the anime of the same name.

Chris Nahon directed, working from a screenplay by Chris Chow, with Bill Kong Chi-Keung, Zhang Zhenyan and Abel Nahmias producing. It was Nahon's third feature, following Kiss of the Dragon (2001) and Empire of the Wolves (2005), and preceded Lady Bloodfight (2016). Jun Ji-hyun plays Saya, alongside Allison Miller, Liam Cunningham, JJ Feild, Koyuki and Yasuaki Kurata, in a production with 55 credited cast and 75 credited crew members. The international co-production involved Hong Kong, China, the United States, France and Japan.

Made for about 30 million USD, the film returned roughly 6 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from around 16,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.9 out of 10 from roughly 440 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 out of 10 from 52 reviews places it below both audience scores.
