Larry loses his job and his girlfriend on the same day, so he decides to spend a weekend drinking and shooting targets with his friends Bill and Everett. A mix-up by a drill sergeant, Kilgore, lands the three of them aboard a military flight bound for Iraq, even though they are not soldiers. During the trip they are dropped by mistake, along with an army jeep, somewhere in Mexico. Convinced they are in the Middle East, they rescue villagers from a gang and are treated as heroes, until the gang's leader, Carlos Santana, takes notice.
C.B. Harding directed Delta Farce, which was his first feature film and was followed years later by Complicity in 2013. The screenplay is by Bear Aderhold and Tom Sullivan. Comedians Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and DJ Qualls play Larry, Bill and Everett, with Christina Moore as Karen, Danny Trejo as Carlos Santana and Keith David as Sgt. Kilgore. The credited cast runs to 38 names.
Released in May 2007, the film took in roughly 9 million dollars worldwide, a modest result. Audiences were unenthusiastic: it holds a rating of 3.7 out of 10 on IMDb from about 12,000 votes, and a slightly higher 4.6 out of 10 on TMDB from around 174 votes. A critics' rating of 2.9 out of 10 from 43 reviews places it below even those audience scores.
