Algiers, the Mecca of Revolutionaries (1962-1974)

This documentary examines the role of independent Algeria between the early 1960s and mid-1970s as a global hub for revolutionary activity. Under the leadership of presidents Ahmed Ben Bella and Houari Boumédiène, the country became a sanctuary for those fighting racial and colonial oppression. The film details how the city of Algiers served as a strategic center for international figures, including Che Guevara, who used it as a base for African guerrilla operations, and Eldridge Cleaver, who established the international headquarters of the Black Panther Party there.

Directed by Ben Salama, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Amirouche Laïdi, the film was produced in France by CNC, ARTE, and Électron Libre Productions.
