Revanche

Alex works for a brothel owner in Vienna and is secretly involved with Tamara, a young Ukrainian woman employed there. The two want to leave their situation behind and start over, but they lack the money to do it. Alex settles on robbing a bank in a small rural town, and Tamara insists on coming along. The robbery goes wrong when a local policeman, Robert, happens to pass the scene and fires at the fleeing car. The aftermath ties Alex's fate to Robert and his wife Susanne, who live on a nearby farm, and sets the three of them on a collision course shaped by grief and the urge to settle accounts.

Revanche was released in 2008 and runs 121 minutes. It is an Austrian production from Spielmannfilm and Prisma Film, written and directed by Götz Spielmann, who also produced it with Mathias Forberg and Sandra Bohle. Johannes Krisch plays Alex, Irina Potapenko plays Tamara, and Andreas Lust and Ursula Strauss play Robert and Susanne; Hanno Pöschl and Johannes Thanheiser are also among the 35 credited cast members. The film draws strong ratings: 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 17,000 votes and 7.2 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 256 votes. A critics' rating of 8.1 out of 10 from 82 reviews places it above both audience scores.
