Barbara

Set in the Faroe Islands, this romantic drama follows a young priest named Poul who arrives to lead a parish. He becomes attracted to Barbara, a twice-widowed woman whose previous husbands were also clergy members. Despite his own religious doubts and the warnings of the local community, Poul enters a passionate relationship with her. Their bond is later challenged by the arrival of a man named Andreas Heide in Thorshavn.

The film was directed by Nils Malmros, who also co-wrote the screenplay with John Mogensen. The cast features Anneke von der Lippe in the title role alongside Lars Simonsen as Poul Aggersoee, with supporting performances by Trond Høvik, Jesper Christensen, Jens Okking, and Ove Petersen.
