During the Vietnam War, a South Korean military base receives radio distress calls from a platoon that went missing months earlier and was presumed dead. Lieutenant Choi Tae-in is assigned to lead a ten-man squad to R-Point, a remote area where the lost soldiers were last seen, to find any trace of them and determine what happened. The mission is meant to last seven days. In the jungle, the men encounter evidence of past violence, come under fire from an unseen shooter, and pick up transmissions from people who should not be alive.
Kam Woo-sung plays Lieutenant Choi Tae-in, with Son Byung-ho, Park Won-sang, Oh Tae-kyung, Lee Sun-kyun and Son Jin-ho among the squad. Kong Su-chang wrote and directed the film, his first feature, followed by The Guard Post in 2008. Choi Kang-hyeok produced.
R-Point mixes war action with horror and history across its 107-minute running time. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 6,400 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.6 out of 10 from about 191 votes, indicating a modest but noticeable reception from viewers. A critics' rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 10 reviews places it below the audience scores on both platforms.
