Amityville II: The Possession

The Montelli family moves into a large colonial house in Amityville, New York, hoping for a fresh start. Anthony, the father, is proud of the purchase, but the household soon turns hostile: objects move on their own, the walls are marked during evening prayers, and the children's rooms are wrecked. Anthony reacts with suspicion and violence toward his four children, blaming them for what is happening, while his wife Dolores becomes convinced that something in the house itself is responsible. The disturbances center on the eldest son, Sonny, who comes under the influence of a malevolent presence. Dolores turns to a local Catholic priest, Father Adamsky, who attempts to free the boy and the house through an exorcism.

The film is a horror and thriller directed by Damiano Damiani, whose earlier features were A Bullet for the General, A Genius, Two Friends, and an Idiot and How to Kill a Judge; this was the fourth film he directed. Tommy Lee Wallace and Dardano Sacchetti wrote the screenplay, Dino De Laurentiis was among the producers, and the cast includes Burt Young as Anthony, Rutanya Alda as Dolores, Jack Magner as Sonny, James Olson as Father Adamsky and Diane Franklin as Patricia, with 33 credited cast and 55 credited crew. Made for about 5 million dollars, it took roughly 13 million worldwide.
