• The screenplay is based on the real case of serial killer Werner Kniesek.
• The hero's inner monologue is built on quotes from the confessions of the serial killer Peter Kürten, known as the 'Vampire of Düsseldorf'.
• To enhance realism in the stabbing scene, they used pig's blood instead of artificial blood.
• In the scene where the killer breaks a window to enter the house, real window glass was used. Actor Erwin Leder insisted on this, and as a result, he cut himself during filming. The glass door through which Sylvia Rabenreiter's character jumps was made of special glass, so there were no cuts, although the actress bruised herself badly during the fall.
