Discipline is an Italian fantasy and music film that examines the concept of girlhood as a learned performance. Through the use of clothing and costumes, the story explores how femininity acts as both a form of care and a method of restriction. It portrays the relationship between young women and their attire as a predetermined theatrical ritual that controls their movements and behavior before a personal identity is fully developed.
The film was directed by Mona Fastvold, following her previous works The World to Come and The Testament of Ann Lee. Produced by Miu Miu, the short film features Amanda Seyfried in the role of The Girl. The cast also includes Ryan VanCompernolle as The Puppet, Catheryn Clifford as The Puppeteer, and supporting roles played by Audrey Allen, Gabriella Alleyne, and Kendra Borden. Martina Maccagno Valé and Maddie Browning served as producers for the project, which has a total runtime of 14 minutes.
