Empire State

Empire State is a crime drama set in New York in 1982. Chris Potamitis, who has just been turned down by the police academy, takes a job as a security guard with an armored truck company. When he lets slip to his childhood friend Eddie how weak the company's security really is, Eddie pushes for a robbery, and Chris finds himself caught up in a plan to take the cash kept at the depot. A veteran detective, James Ransone, leads the investigation into what became the largest cash theft of its kind in the United States at the time.

Dito Montiel directed the film, which he made after The Son of No One and before Boulevard, the fourth feature in his directing career. Adam Mazer wrote the screenplay, and George Furla, Randall Emmett and Mark Stewart produced. Liam Hemsworth plays Chris, Dwayne Johnson plays Detective Ransone, and Michael Angarano appears as Eddie, with Emma Roberts, Nikki Reed and Shenae Grimes-Beech among the supporting cast.

The film was released in 2013 and runs 94 minutes. It had a budget of about 11 million dollars and took roughly 4 million dollars worldwide, well below its cost. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.4 out of 10 from around 750 votes, indicating a largely muted response from viewers.
