Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy

Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy takes place a century after the events of the Dragon Ball GT series. Most of Earth's defenders are gone, leaving only Pan, now an elderly woman, who raises her great-great-grandson, Son Goku Jr. The boy resembles his famous ancestor but lacks his courage, and bullies at school take advantage of his timid nature. When Pan falls seriously ill, Goku Jr. sets out to find the four-star Dragon Ball, hoping its wish-granting power can save her. He is joined on the journey by Puck, one of the boys who used to torment him, and the search gradually draws out strengths he never knew he had.

The 45-minute film was released in Japan in March 1997, produced by Toei Animation and directed by Osamu Kasai. It was his first directorial credit, followed years later by Dragon Ball Z Kai in 2024. Neil Bligh wrote the screenplay, and Masako Nozawa voices both Son Goku Jr. and Son Goku, with Yuko Minaguchi as Pan. Supporting voice roles include Shin Aomori, Kazuyuki Sogabe, Miki Ito and Ryuuzaburou Ootomo.

The film is a side story within the Dragon Ball GT era rather than a continuation of its main storyline, and it blends action and adventure with family drama.
