Hannah Montana: The Movie

Miley Stewart leads a double life: an ordinary schoolgirl by day and the pop star Hannah Montana by night, a secret shared only with her family and her closest friend. As Hannah's fame threatens to swallow her everyday existence, her father decides to take her back to their hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee, for a dose of reality. There she has to weigh the pull of stardom against the life and roots she left behind, and work out whether she can still be both people at once.

The film is a 2009 release from Walt Disney Pictures, directed by Peter Chelsom, who made it between Shall We Dance? and Hector and the Search for Happiness. Dan Berendsen wrote the screenplay, and the producers included Miles Millar, Alfred Gough and Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley Cyrus stars as both Miley and Hannah, with Billy Ray Cyrus as her father Robby, Emily Osment as Lilly, Jason Earles as Jackson, Margo Martindale as Ruby and Peter Gunn as Oswald Granger.

Made for 35 million dollars, it took in about 156 million worldwide, a strong return on its budget. Critics rated it 5.4 out of 10 across 132 reviews, while audiences were more divided: it holds 4.8 on IMDb from 49,000 votes and 6.6 on TMDB from 2,130 votes, a gap that suggests viewers who sought it out were warmer toward it than reviewers were.
