Another 9 1/2 Weeks

John Gray is still haunted by Elizabeth, the lover he lost a decade earlier. Unable to settle, he drifts from hotel to hotel until a New York auction catalogue brings him to Paris, where paintings that once belonged to her are up for sale. At the auction he meets Lea Calot, a fashion designer and a friend of Elizabeth's. Lea wears a scarf John had given Elizabeth years before, and he becomes fixated on learning where Elizabeth is now. Lea keeps that information out of reach, drawing him instead into her own world of fashion shows, grand hotels and disreputable clubs, with her young assistant Claire never far from the arrangement. The relationship that develops between John and Lea is ambiguous and dangerous, and his memories of Elizabeth prove harder to escape than any of the games they play.

Anne Goursaud directed the film, her third feature after Embrace of the Vampire and Poison Ivy 2: Lily. Mick Davis wrote the screenplay, and Staffan Ahrenberg and Yannick Bernard produced. Mickey Rourke plays John Gray, with Angie Everhart as Lea Calot, Agathe de La Fontaine as Claire, Steven Berkoff, Dougray Scott and Werner Schreyer in supporting roles. The film runs 105 minutes and was made as a co-production between the United Kingdom, the United States and France.

Released in June 1997, the film was not well received. On IMDb it holds a rating of 3 out of 10 from around 5,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 4.5 out of 10 from just over a hundred votes. The thin volume of votes on the latter suggests it has largely faded from view since its release.
