Maurice Pogue is a private detective who wakes each morning with no memory of the day before, a condition caused by an accident. He has learned to reconstruct his life through notes, recordings and other reminders, which complicates both his work and a romance he is trying to keep going. A case he is investigating pulls him toward a fraud with serious consequences, while his missing memory keeps putting him at odds with colleagues, criminals and the women in his life.
Mick Jackson directed the film, which sits between The Bodyguard and Volcano in his filmography. Robert King wrote the screenplay, and Lili Fini Zanuck and Richard D. Zanuck produced it for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and The Zanuck Company. Dana Carvey plays Pogue, with Valeria Golino, James Earl Jones, Kevin Pollak, Michael Gambon and Michael Murphy among the credited cast of forty.
