Grand Central is a 2013 drama set around a French nuclear power plant, where Gary, a young man with no steady work behind him, is hired as a decontamination worker. He takes to the job quickly and is accepted by his foreman Gilles and his crew, finding in them the money, companionship and sense of family he had been missing. That closeness is complicated when he falls for Karole, the partner of his colleague Toni. The affair is kept quiet at first, but the dangers of the plant and the secrecy of the relationship press on Gary as the days pass, and the easy atmosphere of the crew starts to change.
Rebecca Zlotowski directed and wrote the screenplay with Gaëlle Macé, following her 2010 debut Belle épine. The film is a French-Austrian co-production, produced by Frédéric Jouve and Gabriele Kranzelbinder, and runs 94 minutes. Tahar Rahim plays Gary and Léa Seydoux plays Karole, with Olivier Gourmet as Gilles, Denis Ménochet as Toni, Johan Libéreau as Tcherno and Nozha Khouadra as Maria.
On IMDb, the film holds a critics' rating of 6.5/10 from 29 reviews, which sits above its audience score on TMDB, where 144 votes give it 5.6/10. Zlotowski went on to direct Planetarium, An Easy Girl, Other People's Children and A Private Life.
