Short description
Lizzie McGuire has just finished middle school, and she joins her classmates on a school trip to Rome. Once there, she is mistaken for Isabella Parigi, a singer in a popular Italian pop duo who happens to look almost exactly like her. The mix-up draws Lizzie into the world of Italian pop stardom, and she also becomes involved with Paolo, Isabella's former singing partner and boyfriend. As she fills in for the absent Isabella, Lizzie's life changes in ways she never expected.
The film is a continuation of the Disney Channel series about the character, released in 2003 and running 94 minutes. Jim Fall directed it, following his 1999 debut Trick and before Wedding Wars in 2006. Hilary Duff plays both Lizzie and Isabella, with Adam Lamberg as her friend Gordo, Yani Gellman as Paolo, Alex Borstein as the chaperone Miss Ungermeyer, and Ashlie Brillault as Kate Sanders. It was produced by Stan Rogow for Walt Disney Pictures.
Made for about 17 million dollars, the film took in roughly 56 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6 from around 45,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.3 from about 1,400 votes, with a critics' rating of 5.4 from 100 reviews.
What's left behind the scenes
- Laleine was offered the chance to play Miranda again, as she did in the eponymous series (2001-2004), but she preferred to develop her music career. Her character is simply mentioned in the film and does not appear on screen.
