The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island

A locust swarm strips the Great Valley of its plants, leaving the dinosaurs without food and forcing the herds to leave in search of a new place to live. As the adults argue over what little remains, Littlefoot and his friends Cera, Ducky, Petrie and Spike set out on their own. Their journey takes them across a large body of water to a mysterious island, where the young dinosaurs meet an old acquaintance whose loyalties are not what they once were.

The film is the fifth entry in The Land Before Time series, following the original 1988 feature. Charles Grosvenor directed it, his second turn behind the camera after Once Upon a Forest and the first of many Land Before Time films he would go on to direct, including parts six through thirteen. John Loy wrote the screenplay, and Tony Geiss and Grosvenor produced. The voice cast includes Brandon La Croix as Littlefoot, Anndi McAfee as Cera, Aria Noelle Curzon as Ducky, Rob Paulsen as Spike, Jeff Bennett as Petrie and John Ingle as the narrator and Cera's father.

Made by Universal Cartoon Studios with animation work from AKOM Production Company, the film is a family-oriented animated adventure running about seventy-four minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 from roughly 5,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.3 from around 361 votes, placing it in modest but respectable territory within a long-running direct-to-video series aimed mainly at younger viewers.
