Pawn Shop Chronicles

Pawn Shop Chronicles is a crime comedy built from several interlocking stories that converge on a pawn shop in a small southern American town. A missing wedding ring sets events in motion. Two drug-addled white supremacists plan to rob their local dealer, and their scheme unravels badly. Elsewhere, a man named Richard comes across a piece of jewellery at the pawn shop that belonged to his wife, who vanished years earlier, and his search for answers leads him toward disturbing discoveries and an encounter with the strange Johnny Shaw. A third thread follows Ricky, a luckless Elvis impersonator travelling the rural fair circuit, who considers desperate measures to finally win an audience.

The film was directed by Wayne Kramer, his fourth feature after The Cooler, Running Scared and Crossing Over. Adam Minarovich wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Paul Walker as Raw Dog, Elijah Wood as Johnny Shaw, Norman Reedus as Stanley, Brendan Fraser as Ricky, Vincent D'Onofrio as Alton and Pell James as Cyndi, among 56 credited performers. It was produced by Paul Walker, Nick Thurlow and Jordan Schur, with a budget of 5 million USD, and took about 1 million USD worldwide.

Audience response has been modest: on IMDb it holds 5.9/10 from around 13,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.8/10 from 267 votes. A critics' rating of 3.7/10 from 17 reviews sits below both audience scores.
