Draft Day

Draft Day follows Sonny Weaver Jr., the general manager of the Cleveland Browns, on the day of the NFL draft, when professional football teams select new players. With pressure mounting from the team's owner and others around him, Sonny pursues a trade for the first overall pick, a move that could reshape the roster. The choice he faces carries consequences for the franchise, for his own career and for the young players hoping to hear their names called.

Kevin Costner plays Sonny, with Jennifer Garner as Ali Parker, Denis Leary as coach Vince Penn, Frank Langella as owner Anthony Molina, Chadwick Boseman as Vontae Mack and Josh Pence as Bo Callahan. Ivan Reitman directed from a screenplay by Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph. The film was the fifteenth Reitman directed, following No Strings Attached in 2011.

Released in April 2014, the drama runs 110 minutes. Made for about 25 million dollars, it took in roughly 30 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.8 from around 73,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 from about a thousand. A critics' score of 5.9 from 159 reviews places it slightly below the audience figures.
