Prizzi's Honor
Short description
Charley Partanna is a hired killer for the Prizzi family, one of the wealthiest criminal clans in the United States. At a family wedding he meets Irene Walker, a striking blonde, and the two quickly fall for each other. What Charley does not know at first is that Irene earns her living the same way he does, as a contract killer. He marries her anyway, and the couple's loyalty to each other soon clashes with the family's interests. Meanwhile Maerose Prizzi, the daughter of the family's head Don Corrado and Charley's former girlfriend, has her own reasons for resenting the match. A Las Vegas assignment for the Don brings Charley face to face with how much Irene's professional life overlaps with his own.
The film was directed by John Huston, the twenty-second of the twenty-two features he directed in chronological order, following Annie. Janet Roach and Richard Condon wrote the screenplay, adapted from Condon's novel, and John Foreman produced. Jack Nicholson plays Charley, with Kathleen Turner as Irene and William Hickey as Don Corrado. Robert Loggia, John Randolph and Lee Richardson appear among a credited cast of 53. Released in June 1985, it mixed crime, comedy and romance and took about 27 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 7.1/10 from 41 reviews, while on TMDB it has 6.4/10 from 445 votes, so audiences there rated it somewhat lower than the critics did.

- Wax was applied to various parts of Irene’s red car. When the car first appears in the film, its left door is an unusual matte color, while the rest of the car is polished to a shine. Later, when the car is shown from the front left, its front left door is already polished, and the front fender on the same side is not. This was done to avoid reflections of the film crew in the car’s body.
- When Charlie and Irene are in her convertible, the shadow of a camera mount is visible on the road.
- When Irene shoots Charlie, the pillow behind his back explodes with a shower of sparks. There should be no sparks when a bullet hits a pillow.
