She Hate Me

Jack Armstrong is a Harvard-educated biotechnology executive whose decision to expose corruption at his company costs him his job and leaves him broke. When his former girlfriend Fatima, now a lesbian, asks him to father a child for her and her partner in exchange for money, he accepts. Word spreads, and other wealthy women approach him with the same offer, turning his arrangement into a paid sideline. At the same time, his former employers are pursuing him over fraud allegations, which complicates his new life.

Spike Lee directed and co-wrote the film with Michael Genet, and produced it with Preston L. Holmes and Fernando Sulichin. It is the fourteenth of the 26 features Lee has directed, following 25th Hour and preceding Inside Man. Anthony Mackie plays Jack, with Kerry Washington as Fatima, Ellen Barkin as Margo Chadwick, Monica Bellucci as Simona Bonasera, Jim Brown as Geronimo Armstrong and Ossie Davis as Judge Buchanan. The film runs 139 minutes and was made for 8 million dollars, against a worldwide gross of about 2 million.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 103 reviews, while on TMDB it stands at 5.1 out of 10 from 128 votes, indicating a modest audience response that runs slightly above the critical score.
