Fighter in the Wind

Fighter in the Wind follows the life of Choi Bae-dal, a Korean man who moves to Japan with the goal of becoming a fighter pilot. After the war, he finds himself living as an outsider in Tokyo, where he defends the weak and navigates a difficult environment. Driven by personal tragedy and the desire to become the strongest warrior, he undergoes rigorous solitary training in the mountains. He eventually travels across the country to challenge various martial arts masters, leading to the development of his own style of karate known as Kyokushin.

Directed by Yang Yun-ho, this action drama was the first of two listed films in the director's career, followed by Uncle, Where Are You Going? in 2026. The movie stars Yang Dong-geun as the title character, alongside Aya Hirayama, Masaya Kato, and Jung Doo-hong. Produced by Chungeorahm Film and iVision Entertainment with a budget of 6 million USD, the film was released in August 2004.
