Hard Core Logo is a Canadian mockumentary about a Vancouver punk band of the same name that broke up years earlier. Its lead singer, Joe Dick, talks his former bandmates into reuniting for a one-off show, and when that concert goes unexpectedly well, the group sets out on a tour across Western Canada. As the band travels, the old tensions between its members resurface, and the pressures of life on the road threaten to pull the group apart again.
Bruce McDonald directed the film, working from a screenplay by Noel S Baker; Brian Dennis and Christine Haebler produced it for Terminal City Pictures. Hugh Dillon plays Joe Dick, with Callum Keith Rennie as guitarist Billy Tallent, John Pyper-Ferguson as John Oxenberger and Bernie Coulson as Pipefitter. The 92-minute film was released in October 1996 and blends comedy, drama and music. It is one of McDonald's earlier features, preceding Picture Claire and Pontypool in his filmography. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.6 out of 10 from 35 votes, a modest score from a small sample that suggests a limited but engaged audience.
