A small French armored transport company called Vigilante is in crisis after three violent hold-ups in a single year, none of which left any of its guards alive. The firm is close to bankruptcy, the staff are anxious, and some suspect that the robbers had inside help. Into this tense environment walks Alexandre Demarre, a quiet new employee starting his first day on the job. He reveals little about himself, and his composure around the danger raises suspicion among his colleagues, who wonder what he is really after.
Cash Truck is a 2004 French crime thriller directed by Nicolas Boukhrief, who wrote the screenplay with Éric Besnard. It was Boukhrief's first film as director in the chronological list of his work, followed years later by Three Days and a Life and Like a Son. Albert Dupontel plays Demarre, with Jean Dujardin as Jacques, François Berléand as Bernard, Claude Perron as Nicole, Julien Boisselier as La Belette and Philippe Laudenbach as La Momie. Richard Grandchamp produced.
On TMDB the film holds a rating of 6.4 out of 10 from 213 votes, suggesting a modest but steady reception among viewers who have sought it out. Its brisk 95-minute running time and blend of action, crime, drama and thriller elements place it within the tradition of French policier cinema, anchored by a cast of well-known performers.
