Frequencies

Frequencies is a science fiction romance set in an alternate reality where a person's social standing and relationships are determined by their innate frequency. The story follows Zak, a low-frequency individual, and Marie, who possesses an exceptionally high frequency. Because of this disparity, the two are incompatible and forbidden from forming a romantic bond, as spending too much time together can cause violent disruptions in their environment. While Zak is driven by passion, Marie struggles with an inability to feel emotion. The plot centers on Zak's attempts to manipulate his own frequency to be with Marie, a discovery that eventually threatens the stability of their world.
