Saint Laurent is a French-Belgian drama about the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, covering the years from the late 1960s to 1976. Having taken over the house of Dior at a young age, he builds his own label into a major force in fashion, with his partner Pierre Bergé managing the business side of the empire. The film follows the designer through a period of intense creative output and extravagant social life as well as through the personal strain that comes with it. While success brings him art, travel and celebrity, professional criticism and his own excesses push him toward a crisis, and Bergé works to hold both the company and their relationship together. A circle of friends, muses and lovers surrounds the pair throughout.
Bertrand Bonello directed, working from a screenplay by Thomas Bidegain. It is the fourth film in Bonello's directing career, following House of Pleasures. Gaspard Ulliel plays Saint Laurent, with Jérémie Renier as Bergé, Louis Garrel as Jacques de Bascher, Léa Seydoux as Loulou de la Falaise, Aymeline Valade as Betty Catroux and Amira Casar as Anne-Marie Munoz. The film runs 150 minutes.
Released in September 2014, Saint Laurent drew a modest response from audiences, holding a rating of 6.1 out of 10 on TMDB from just over 300 votes.
